Cairn is designed to respect your privacy. The short version: Cairn never collects, transmits, or shares any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
Cairn does not collect, store, or transmit:
All data created in Cairn is stored locally on your device:
.vscode/cairn.json) inside your workspace folder, or to VS Code's local global storage if no workspace is open.
Cairn never syncs data to the developer's servers or any third-party service.
The optional AI Brain Dump feature uses Ollama, a locally-running AI runtime. When you use this feature, your text is sent to the Ollama process running on your own machine — it does not leave your device and is not transmitted to any external service, including the developer.
The AI feature is entirely opt-in and is not required to use Cairn.
Cairn does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or data-brokering services.
This website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type) as part of serving the page. See GitHub's Privacy Statement for details.
Cairn does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected at all, there is nothing to restrict by age.
If this privacy policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a revised date at the top. Given that Cairn collects no data, significant changes are unlikely.
